Once upon a time ... N.M. Silber was a criminal defense attorney who got up each morning, donned her power suit and sensible pumps, downed a gallon of coffee and set out to "fight the good fight" while trying to not go insane. Having a dark sense of humor and a sarcastic wit helped -- a lot. Another thing that helped was reading. As escapism was the goal, she liked to read romance novels, especially really funny ones and really sexy ones. Then one day something beautiful happened -- she read one that was both funny and sexy at the same time. She hung up her power suit, put away her sensible pumps and moved her coffee mug to her computer. Now she writes funny and sexy romance novels herself and she lives happily ever after.
Bibliophile Book Reviews sat down and had a friendly chat with the amazing author N.M. Silber!!
BBR: What books have most influenced your life most?
N.M. : Nancy Drew books and
books that were both funny and sexy like Wallbanger, Seduction and Snacks,
Confessions of an Alli Cat etc.
BBR: What book are you currently reading?
N.M.: I'm just about done
with Adam ’s Apple by Liv Morris and I LOVED it!
BBR: What inspired you to write your first book?
N.M.:
I’ve always wanted
to write, but having traditionally published authors in my family, I knew that
I wouldn’t be able to give up control of my characters and stories. When it
became possible for me to form my own publishing company, I went for it.
BBR: How did you come up with the title?
N.M.:
My books are about
attorneys, so I picked legal pun-type titles.
In this one, my couple gets married, so “The Home Court Advantage”
seemed appropriate.
BBR: Who is your favorite character in The Law of Attraction and The Home
Court Advantage?
N.M.: I love all of my
characters. That’s almost like asking me to pick a favorite child. J
BBR:Did you have any funny moments when writing your book?
N.M.:
I crack myself up when
I write and a couple of times I woke my husband up I was laughing so hard.
BBR:Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
BBR:Do you have any advice for other writers?
N.M.:
Consider
self-publishing.
BBR:Would you ever consider writing outside of the Romance genre? N.M.: Yes – I would write general humor and possibly mysteries.
BBR:Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
N.M.:
You have NO idea how
much it means to me that you enjoy my books.
That’s the greatest gift anyone has ever given me.
BBR:When can we expect your next book to be released?
N.M.: Early 2014!
