Synopsis:
The
Hammer family of Hammer Fields, Virginia, do not know what to expect
when elderly matriarch Martha Toole comes for a visit. Only the
eldest son, John David Hammer, a painter and lover of family history,
seems to enjoy her presence. The family is thrown into deeper
distress when, during a visit to the old homeplace, John David and
Martha Toole are followed home by the ghost of Martha Toole's youth.
Review:
The
Life Remembrances Martha Toole was a very interesting story. The main
idea of the story was a little puzzling. The book had some good
things about it but like any and all things, it consisted of a few
flaws. One was the characters, I enjoyed how there was only a few of
them but the twist of the characters and how there was two of Martha
became confusing. The story just put the younger one in it, did not
lead up to the appearance of her or anything. It confused me about
which one was the ghost and which one was being haunted. The same
kind of goes for the scene changing's. The author had some neat
scenes that was very well described but did not change the scenes in
a orderly way, just kind of changed them. One minute your talking to someone, the next your somewhere else. Aside from the few spelling
errors as well, the book was pretty good. The descriptiveness and the
way the information in the story was brought out in such a neat way,
made up for the lack of consistency, i feel.
