Marco Serra's life has been one of isolation and melancholy, perpetually trapped in the grips of ennui and disappointment. After the tragic loss of his family, the darkness within his mind begins to plunder to uncharted depths. Only the friendship of his fiery but fickle friend Claire manages to occasionally lift Marco's spirits, but her capriciousness begins to overcome her lively nature. It's only when Marco meets a mysterious and fascinating woman named Alicia that the light in his life may finally find the spark it desperately needs...but the haunting voice that ceaselessly stalks Marco's thoughts won't let him go so easily...
*I received a free copy of Exit Light by Jose Cantu in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book really took me by surprise. The writing is beautiful, the cover is outstanding... but that is nothing compared to the story within. The love story is alluring, the plot perplexing at times, and I found myself continuing to read far longer than I should have and I suffered from lack of sleep in the morning. After fully caffeinated, I continued reading on the way to work in the morning, because I had to see how it ended. Seriously, read it. I doubt you'll be disappointed. I very much look forward to reading more of Jose's work!
